Held at 7pm on Thursday 10th October 2024
Rev Sophie led our Harvest Service and welcomed Rev Jude Bevan as our guest speaker and as always, we were grateful to Seimon Morris for playing the music.
The children helped during the service by bringing forward the symbols of the harvest, gifts that God has created. This included:
The harvest of the cornfields – oats, wheat, rye and barley.
The harvest of roots – swedes, turnips, parsnips and carrots.
The harvest of seeds for next year’s crops – of clover, hay and corn.
The harvest of vegetables – peas, potatoes, beans and salads. The harvest of pears, apples, berries and herbs.
The harvest of flowers, the finest blooms from our gardens and our fields.
The grain and the grape, to represent our Saviour taking the bread and the wine.
There were also glass jars the children had decorated at the recent Messy Church, which were displayed in the windows with vegetables.
Everyone joined us for homemade soup and roll after the service.
A collection for non-perishable food and toiletries was made which will go to the VC Gallery.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and for all of the donations.
